Should You Buy Refurbished Emerson Parts Or New Parts?

Apr 04 2011

Sometimes when your Emerson appliances break down and you decide to repair them on your own it can be tempting to buy refurbished Emerson parts rather than brand new parts, but this is not always the best choice available. The key thing to remember is that used and refurbished parts have already seen a fair amount of wear and tear before you ever hold them in your hand, meaning that a little bit of their lifespan has already been used up. As a result you can expect that your equipment will need to be repaired again sooner than if you had invested the money in buying a brand new part instead.

Now of course sometimes buying refurbished Emerson parts is not a bad idea. If you find the right distributor you can rest easy knowing that they have properly maintained the parts and have replaced the pieces with the most wear and tear, granting them a longer life expectancy than if they were simply used parts. If pricing is your primary concern or if the rest of the appliance probably does not have an incredibly long time before needing to be replaced as well then this might be the right avenue to choose. But if the price difference is not all that great and you can afford to invest in higher durability and longer life than it is probably in your best interests to purchase a new part straight out of the box rather than a refurbished piece. You will need to weigh the difference between price against the reliability of the company you are purchasing the refurbished equipment from, and then decide what is best for your situation.
